Understanding Peace Agreements in Civil Mediation

In many civil disputes, litigation is not the only — or even the best — path to resolution. A peace agreement, formalized through mediation and often registered with the court as an "akta perdamaian," allows both parties to settle their dispute on mutually agreed terms while avoiding the time and cost of a full trial.

Under Indonesian civil procedure, a court-registered peace agreement carries the same binding force as a final court judgment, making it an effective and enforceable tool for resolving disputes over contracts, land, and lease agreements.

Our firm regularly assists clients in negotiating, drafting, and formalizing peace agreements that protect their interests while preserving business and personal relationships wherever possible.
